At APEX San Diego we always enjoy a little friendly competition. This year, in doing our part to keep everyone as safe as possible, and still have a good time with our friends and family, we will be celebrating our Third Anniversary a little differently.

As always, APEX Zombie Comp features three challenge events: Skills, Speed, and Freestyle. Competitors are eligible to compete in 1 of 3 age categories: Youth (5-11 years), Teen (12-17 years) or Adult (18+).

Athletes compete ONLY with other Athletes in their same age category. When an Athlete signs up for the APEX Zombie Comp, they will select your age bracket. If an Athlete has a birthday during the competition time, they will remain in their original bracket. Athletes may select to compete in a higher category bracket, but not lower than their age.

Skills Event

The Skills event tests you in different categories of Parkour skills. Each category will have 5 levels. You get points for the highest level successfully conquered. APEX Zombie Comp has 4 skill categories to challenge you.

New skill area with 5 levels to conquer each week

Week 1 – Sept. 12-18: Vampire Vaults

Week 2 – Sept. 19-25: Bogeyman Bars

Week 3 – Sept. 26-Oct 2: Undertaker Ukemi

Week 4 – Oct. 3 -9: Werewolf Walls

Competitors face a different challenge area each week, by appointment. Master up to level 5.

When you can test your skills

Each week make an appointment during Open Gym to come in and test yourself in that category.

Youth can come in during Open Gym 4-5pm on Tuesday and Thursday and on Saturday 12-1 pm.

Teens and Adults during Open Gym Wednesday 6-8 pm and Saturday 1-2 pm

Speed Course Event

Two Speed Courses will be run for our 2020 Zombie Comp. This event is all about going fast! Speed courses are typically either floor-is-lava, point-to-point or checkpoint courses.

A new speed course each 2 weeks

Weeks 1 & 2 – Sept. 12-25: Course 1

Weeks 3 & 4 – Sept. 26-Oct 9: Course 2

Competitors can run each course up to 2 times. Strategically, you should run the course the first time to ensure you get a time. The second time you should be more experimental and try those moves you were less confident about.

When you can test your skills

Each of the two weeks, make an appointment during Open Gym to come in and test yourself on that course.

Youth can come in during Open Gym 4-5pm on Tuesday and Thursday and on Saturday 12-1 pm.

Teens and Adults during Open Gym Wednesday 6-8 pm and Saturday 1-2 pm

Freestyle Event

Freestyle is your chance to show off your flare! You will take a video of you show casing yourself. Videos have to be 30 seconds and less and be submitted by the due date each week. Voting will be done online through social media. The submission with the most likes moves on.

Bracket style elimination

First Submission due by Saturday 9/12/2020 at noon.

Subsequent Submissions will be due by the following Saturday at noon.

Voting will take place Sunday through Wednesday before noon.
